why L’Atelier ?

What makes us unique?

Creative Intelligence at the Core

We nurture each child’s innate ability to imagine, inquire, and innovate from the earliest years. Here, creativity is not a subject – it’s a way of thinking, living, and being.

A School That Is an Atelier

Every classroom, hallway, and outdoor space becomes a studio for research, exploration, and expression. L’Atelier is a school designed to think, feel, and create.

30 Years of Meaningful Impact

Founded in 1995, L’Atelier has walked alongside thousands of children, families, and educators—innovating in early childhood education, nurturing community, and inspiring professional growth grounded in beauty and research.

We Welcome Families, Not Just Students

Life at L’Atelier is collaborative and alive. Every encounter—whether during a Coffee Friday, a class project, or a school-wide initiative—reflects our belief that learning grows through relationships and shared experiences.

A Truly Multicultural Community

With families from over 30 cultural backgrounds, L’Atelier fosters an inclusive and globally minded environment where diversity is celebrated and every voice contributes to the collective learning experience.

Our Programs

We design each program considering key elements that contextualize learning weave fields of knowledge and languages of expression and the theory of the 100 languages.

Young Toddlers Class

Ages: 1 to 2 years old

In this first encounter with school life, children are surrounded by care, trust, curiosity, and wonder. As they conquer verticality and begin to explore their emerging sense of identity, they are invited into a sensory dialogue with their environment – connecting with materials and expressive languages.

The body and mind become connoisseurs of movement, rhythm, and sound, while their hands explore objects, textures, and color. These experiences – rooted in emotional connection and growing autonomy – nurture the early foundations of communication, independence, and belonging in the world.

Toddlers

Ages: 2 to 3 years old

This stage opens opportunities for growing identity, autonomy, imaginative and cooperative play, the construction of early theories, and the formation of first friendships. Children’s explorations become richer and more complex through shared experiences with peers. The emergence of graphic expression, the joy of making a mark, reveals their growing awareness of self and others, as collaboration and a sense of community begin to flourish. An early sense of number also appears, blending with the impulse to build higher and explore new heights.

Threes (Pre-K3)

Ages: 3 to 4 years old

At this stage, identity is also expressed through the choice of friendships, which become essential to daily life. Connections between home stories and school experiences anchor learning, as children engage in deeper thinking and inquiry. Their questions evolve into hypotheses and “provisional theories”—unique ways of interpreting the world. Projects emerge from their curiosity and are enriched through expressive languages, installations, and group dialogue.

Junior Kindergarten (Pre-K4)

Ages: 4 to 5 years old

With growing confidence, children explore identity in deeper ways, making visible their sense of responsibility and empathy. Their interests become more defined, and their theories often parallel those of experts in astonishing ways. Their work reveals the beauty and organization of their thinking and the strategies they use to solve problems. Educators are inspired by their distinctive ways of learning, where language, mathematics, science, and aesthetics naturally intertwine.

Kindergarten

Ages: 5 to 6 years old

A transformative year where research, collaboration, and reflection converge. Children engage in long-term projects and recognize the path that has brought them to this final stage at L’Atelier. They refine critical thinking skills and become authors of their organization, community, friendships, and expanding view of the world. As they prepare for the transition to elementary school, they do so with confidence—grounded in creativity, values, community, and the ability to learn how to learn.
